I truly could have never planned for a pride of lions to walk past our safari truck but that’s the magic of a destination wedding..especially on safari..you leave room for the things that could only happen when you’re fully there. 🦁

No one wakes up on their wedding day and decides to spend it managing people 🙃 It naturally happens because you care.

As a couple, you want your guests to have a great time. You want your vendors to have what they need. You want everything you’ve spent months planning to come together exactly how you envisioned it.

So naturally, when someone asks a question…you answer it, right? And when something goes wrong…you start to step in.
You start saying, “I’ve got it.” Then little by little, you stop experiencing your wedding and start running it…not good!

The irony though? You hired a wedding planner. You hired vendors you trust and spent so much time looking for and vetting on consult calls for exactly this reason.

One of the biggest parts of my job as your wedding photographer isn’t just documenting your day but it’s protecting your ability to stay inside of it.💃

Sometimes that means gently pulling you away for a quiet moment together or for 10 minutes of sunset portraits when you find yourself starting to answer a million questions about your reception when your planner can be there doing that for you. Sometimes for me, it even means answering questions or getting the answer from another vendor before they ever even reach you. Sometimes, it’s simply just reminding you that your day can’t start without you AND your only job today is to get married and have the best time ever.

You don’t have to stand still to look expensive!! I don’t think I need to say anything else about that. When the heck did “high end” and “luxury” become equivalent to “stiff” and “posed” and “unnatural”!?

To me, “luxury” is walking into your engagement session and never once wondering what to do with your hands. It’s laughing when something’s actually funny and not feeling bad about it, it’s pulling each other in without being told to, and moving the way you naturally move together. Yes, I’ll always guide you whether your vision is more candid or more editorial. That’s just my job. But my direction is there to create freedom, not pressure and that’s how you get images that feel expensive without feeling like it’s a performance.

That’s the kind of luxury I’ll choose every single time. 🤌🏻

This photo is probably the most accurate representation of me you’ll ever see…coffee in one hand, laptop balancing in the other. Holding onto my 90th pair of sunglasses the only other way I can hold them at the moment. Trying to balance on one foot while somehow making it all work.

A little chaotic. But that’s kind of my sweet spot 😉

Because here’s the thing, weddings are beautifully unpredictable (!!!)

Timelines shift.
Veils catch the wind and sometimes fly right off of your head.
Your man cries when no one expects him to.
Your flower girl decides she’s done walking halfway down the aisle.
The best man forgets the rings. (I’m on this though no worries)

But honestly…I kinda thrive being in the middle of it and not because I love chaos but because I know how to bring calm to it. (Lots of practice 😉)
