On Wednesday evening I went up to New Jersey / NYC to photograph the full moon rising over the Empire State Building.
There are some cool photography planning apps that help figure out *exactly* when and where to be to align for specific photos.

July’s moon was the ‘Buck’ Supermoon.

Supermoon, because in the moon’s elliptical orbit it was at its perigee to earth, making it appear larger. Any time the perigee aligns with a full moon it’s called a Supermoon. This usually happens a couple times a year, though Wednesday night’s was the last one of this year.

The July full moon is also called the ‘Buck’ moon, so named for the time of year that male deer - who shed their antlers every year - start to regrow.
