Even the simplest, most intimate days can feature simply beautiful composition

Just a bride & groom and their 3 sets of parents

Hannah got ready in a quaint bed & breakfast with her mom, Vin got ready in a nearby hotel with his parents

They met up at the cape May lighthouse to share their vows and tie the knot, & celebrated with cake, champagne, & the most beautiful sunset backdrop

I wish I could take this exact feeling with me to every wedding day, no matter the size

The chance to cut out the noise and spend the day how you’d like to spend it, regardless of how many guests you’ve found on your guest list

Your guests have traveled from near and far to celebrate you & your partner, yes, but they’ve also come to meet the people who make up your little worlds

Trust that they’ve got each other, even in the most packed rooms

At some point on your wedding day, I challenge you to take a really really deep inhale & a really ginormous sigh out

Maybe do it again, & again

Imagine it’s just you two for just a moment

Then go take that energy out into the party & exist as if it’s just another day

It’s certainly not just any other day, but I’d really hate for you to let your wedding day pass you by because you’re so worried about everyone else

I guarantee you that we’ll never be able to plan for your favorite photographs

We can plan a timeline, we can plan where our light stands will be during your first dance, we can plan where to stand for your first kiss, we can even plan to bring umbrellas in case of rain

But we’ll never be able to plan your favorite photograph, because those stand out moments will only happen if you can be present

one of the best privileges to capture is the moment before you walk down the aisle

the doors open and you see that one aunt sneak her phone out because she simply could not resist, even though everyone got the same memo of an unplugged ceremony

you hear the gasps at your beauty & finally getting to see the vision of you as a bride come to life

you feel tears of immense joy well up in your eyes as you walk down the aisle

everyone at your ceremony knows a different version of you…

the reason why you’ve worked so hard to plan your wedding is to get married to the love of your life

yes, there’s the party, the outfits, the colors, the flowers, the thoughtful touches

but for just a short amount of time, you get to marvel at this deep love you’ve found and profess it to one another in front of everyone you love

this was a split second decision to turn around and frame Lillian & Michael walking back to the trolley

I loved the way Michael was looking at his beautiful bride

it wasn’t until culling that I realized the luck of the skateboarder peeking out that makes this photo a bit more interesting

For couples who want their wedding documented naturally

Something we’ve noticed over the years is that when couples use language like this early on, it usually means they want to really live in their day

Even around the bigger moments of the day, it helps when the timeline still has room to breathe. There’s actually very little you HAVE to do

Instead, think about how you want to spend this day and try to tune out the noise of what everyone else says a wedding is supposed to look like

Spend time with your people
Let speeches run a minute longer than planned
Listen to the words being said about you
Soak in the complements of your dress
Observe heartfelt conversations during dinner
Hug your friends during cocktail hour
Dance on the dance floor for crying out loud

Some of the photographs you’ll treasure most are the ones none of us could have planned

They don’t exist on a Pinterest board

They happen when you’re fully INNNNNN your day

When asked to share the moment they knew the other was the one, Erin shared such a beautiful story that I asked for her permission to share 🫶🏼

“Early on Greg very casually gave me a key to his house and it felt like I was supposed to have it. And I remember thinking how natural it was that he just handed me this key. There was no sit down dinner and presentation of the key as some sort of “official” next step, he just gave it to me and we moved on with our day.

Everything about our relationship has been natural like that, where these kind of large or pivotal moments just blend in with our day like they were always supposed to happen. The day I got the key I had a suspicion that this was it for me. And then over the next few weeks I guess it just solidified in my brain.

I don’t think there was ever a lightbulb moment, it was pretty much like every other thing - just a natural progression where I woke up one morning and realized I was with the person I was going to marry. And if I wasn’t sure enough before, after we started saying “I love you,” there never a doubt in my mind that Greg is the person I’ll say that to for the rest of my life.”

Ollie & Jake’s intimate elopement in Spring Lake, NJ

These two shared a self-unifying ceremony at midnight on New Year’s Day on a bridge at one of their favorite vacation locations

They shared vows, had a cozy weekend in, and I was able to join them the next day to commemorate their beautiful marriage with snow on the beach & the most jaw dropping sunset
