Emily Wren Photography

Emily Wren Photography I get a true sense of fulfillment preserving the most important moments in people's lives. This is the joy that dives me to be a wedding photographer.

My approach is very personal. I always come away from a wedding feeling like I've just experienced something beautiful between close friends. For me, the most important thing is to capture the love between you and your partner honestly. It's this intimate approach that will help you feel at ease and comfortable with the camera, highlighting the organic beauty that is revealed when people really fe

el like themselves. I earned a degree in photography from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), one of the most prestigious photography programs in the country. This level of experience and training comes heavily into play while capturing your special day. I am drawing on a bank of knowledge and know-how that has taken years in the field to master. Of course I also come with a wide assortment of top-of-the-line equipment. I bring multiple high end cameras, spectacular lenses, gorgeous lighting and flashes, and more importantly_,_ the knowledge to use this equipment to it's fullest potential. The result is a simple and fresh aesthetic, rich in narrative images and telling details. Every wedding is unique. Most weddings are a combination of timeless traditions and spontaneous celebrations. As your photographer, I am constantly open to possibility, seeking out the nuanced shots that tell the story of your love. There are certain moments I expect to photograph of course, and then there are the photos that can't possibly be planned, but are full of emotion and truth. Sometimes it's these moments in between the poses that tell your story best.

The reflecting pool inside Longwood Gardensโ€™ Conservatory becomes an entirely different space on a wedding day. The pool is drained, creating this incredible reception setting surrounded by glass, soaring palms and layers of living greenery.

Itโ€™s one of those spaces that really doesnโ€™t need much added to it. For Danielle & Curtโ€™s reception, long farm tables and wood chairs from Party Rental Ltd. brought just enough warmth and structure, while the saturated florals carried the color through the room.

The Conservatory did the rest.

Claire & Spencerโ€™s spring wedding at Parque was full of beautiful contrastsโ€”the softness of Claireโ€™s gown against Parqueโ€™s old stone and dark wood, the black wedding party attire against the gardens, and florals that brought so much color, texture and movement into every part of the day.

These two were also just incredibly fun to photograph. Claire has such an expressive, joyful energy, and she and Spencer moved through the day with this easy affection that made even the more composed portraits feel natural and full of life.

And then, of course, the flowers. A Garden Party Florist has such a distinctive way of designing. Dawn incorporates unexpected varieties and elements from her own garden, and thereโ€™s always something wonderfully untamed about the result. The arrangements feel layered, textural and aliveโ€”as though they belong to the landscape around them.

The reception design was another standout. Claire & Spencer were the first couple to use serpentine tables at Parque, creating these beautiful curved lines through the room. Layered with garden-inspired florals, taper candles, patterned china and soft gray linens, the tables felt incredibly elegant while still keeping that organic quality that ran through the entire day.

Iโ€™ll be back at Parque again this weekend for Emily & Morganโ€™s wedding, and Iโ€™m already excited to see the property transformed all over again. ๐Ÿค

What you see vs. what I see. ๐Ÿค

The finished photographs are polished, effortless and cinematicโ€”but behind every frame is a lot of movement, problem-solving, anticipation and attention to the smallest details.

From Danielle getting ready at Hotel Du Pont to the Conservatory at Longwood Gardens, this is a little glimpse of the perspective behind the final images.

Because the best photographs come from knowing when to direct, when to anticipate, and when to simply let the moment unfold.

There are few settings quite as spectacular as Longwood Gardens for a wedding day. โœจ

Danielle, Miss Global USA 2023, and her husband Curt welcomed their guests to a full private buyout of Longwood Gardens, with the grounds entirely theirs for the evening.

The day moved from portraits among Longwoodโ€™s iconic fountains and gardens to dinner beneath the soaring glass ceilings of the Conservatory, surrounded by lush greenery, rich crimson florals and candlelight.

And after dark, everyone gathered outside for a private fountain show complete with fire, a drumline and ballerians and a custom grand finale for the newlyweds.

Photographing Danielle in her lace gown throughout the gardens, from the Main Fountain Garden in full afternoon light to the fountains illuminated after dark, was one of those rare wedding days where every part of the setting felt cinematic.

An incredible setting for a celebration of this scale, and such a memorable wedding to document from beginning to end. ๐Ÿค

Wedding photographer instinct: see a couch in the cocktail-hour lounge and immediately decide it belongs somewhere else ๐Ÿ˜‚

I borrowed this one from the lounge setup, moved it under the trees, and suddenly we had the perfect little portrait spot for Lily & Kevin and their wedding party,

Soft light, cascading greenery, pastel dresses and those beautiful bouquets made the whole setup come together.

Sometimes being a photograoher means knowing when to ask for forgiveness, not permission โœจ

Elena and Parker had the perfect garden wedding at Appleford, filled with soft florals, romantic textures and thoughtful details that felt completely at home among Applefordโ€™s lush grounds.

They began the day with a private first look and vows tucked into the gardens before their ceremony at Our Mother of Good Counsel in Bryn Mawr. Back at Appleford, Brooke Voris Weddings layered the reception with linen, candlelight and long communal tables, while The Stemโ€™s End filled the tent with buttery whites, blush tones and delicate floral installations that seemed to grow through the space.

Ribbon wands caught the breeze, flowers spilled across the tables, and the gardens created such a beautiful backdrop for the celebration. Elena and Parker brought so much warmth and joy to the day, with a genuine attentiveness to one another and to everyone gathered around them.

One of my favorite parts of photographing a wedding is taking all of the small, meaningful pieces a couple has chosen and bringing them together into something that tells the story of the day.

For Lily and Kevin, that meant botanical paper goods, vintage-inspired accessories, soft pastel florals, her antique beaded handbag and all of the beautiful little details that gave their ๐ผ๐“ƒ๐“ƒ ๐’ถ๐“‰ ๐ต๐’ถ๐“‡๐“๐‘’๐“Ž ๐’ฎ๐’ฝ๐‘’๐’ถ๐’ป ๐น๐’ถ๐“‡๐“‚ wedding its distinctive old-world character.

These photographs may look effortless in the finished gallery, but behind the scenes there is usually a whole lot of arranging, rearranging, flower clipping, crawling around on the floor and obsessing over the tiniest shift in composition. And I genuinely love every minute of it.

Lily and Kevinโ€™s wedding at ๐ผ๐“ƒ๐“ƒ ๐’ถ๐“‰ ๐ต๐’ถ๐“‡๐“๐‘’๐“Ž ๐’ฎ๐’ฝ๐‘’๐’ถ๐’ป ๐น๐’ถ๐“‡๐“‚ felt like a modern interpretation of a Jane Austen novel, full of romance, pastoral beauty and deeply personal details.

Lily has the quality of an old soul, and her aesthetic carried that spirit throughout the day. Her sculptural SARAH SEVEN gown paired a clean, contemporary silhouette with a softly structured bodice, while an antique beaded handbag and other vintage details gave her look a sense of history. Their invitation suite, framed by intricate botanical illustrations reminiscent of a Victorian bookplate, established the visual language of the celebration.

Loose, meadow-like florals by Botanical Blueprints in peach, butter yellow, lavender, blush and blue framed the outdoor ceremony. Mismatched pastel dresses, paper parasols and layers of greenery extended the garden atmosphere throughout the grounds and into the Innโ€™s timber-framed reception space.

Lily and Kevin exude warmth and grace. There is a tenderness, ease and quiet attentiveness between them that shaped the entire celebration and made the day feel deeply connected.
