All I need is one window.

Do you have a window?

I think you do.

Everything else is already there.

Let’s make something beautiful, friends 🧡🤍🤎

Before our session, I asked what they hoped these images would hold onto.

Her answer wasn’t a specific pose or location.

She wanted her children to see how much fun they had together.

How deeply they were loved.

And she wanted to remember the little things that are already changing—like the two tiny bottom teeth that had just come in. (Those teeth pics are coming too!)

So we documented a morning at home.

The doorway where everyone gathers.
The books they read together.
The way big brother reaches for his sister.
The laughter.
The routines.
The ordinary moments that quietly become the memories we miss most.

Because one day those baby teeth will be replaced, the routines will change, and this season will feel impossibly far away.

But they’ll always have proof of what it felt like to be loved here. 🤍

The 18-summer breakdown:

☀️ 1 summer with a baby
☀️ 3 summers with a toddler
☀️ 9 school-age summers
☀️ 5 teenage summers

Eighteen summers.

It sounds like a lot until you start counting them.

The ordinary days are the ones that disappear the fastest.

The sticky fingers.
The bike rides.
The sprinkler water.
The way they still reach for your hand.

My Childhood Summer Sessions are about holding onto a little piece of it before another summer slips by.

What summer are you on? ☀️🤎

Before our session day, we talked about what she wanted to remember most.

Not just photographs with her mother, but the feeling of being with her. The conversations over coffee. The laughter. The familiar rooms. The little details that make a person and a place feel like home.

So that’s what I focused on capturing—not just how their relationship looked, but how it felt.

I paid attention to the things that might seem ordinary today but become priceless over time: her mother’s hands wrapped around a favorite mug, the spaces where they spend time together, the stories shared across the table, and the comfort of simply being in each other’s company.

Years from now, I hope these images bring her right back to this season of life.

And selfishly, I walked away smiling.

As much as I love photographing babies, children, and young families, there was something incredibly sweet about documenting this chapter instead. Two grown women who genuinely enjoy being together. A mother and daughter who have built a friendship alongside their family bond.

I love opportunities to step outside my usual sessions and tell stories like this—because connection doesn’t become less meaningful as we get older. If anything, it becomes even more precious. 🤍

One day, they stop reaching for your hand without thinking.

One day, they stop fitting on your lap.

One day, you realize the season you were living in quietly changed while you were busy surviving (ok that line was hard to write 😭.)

Motherhood photos were never really about perfectly behaved kids or smiling at the camera for me.

They’re about the way they hold onto your shirt.
The (sometimes) chaos.
The hugs that feel too tight and your hair gets all messed up.
The weight of them in your arms while you can still carry them. (I still pick my 9 year old up!)

Because these seasons feel long while we’re in them … until suddenly they aren’t.

Tomorrow I get to help mothers celebrate this season of life. Lucky for you, I have some last minute openings tomorrow. No need to fret over outfits- I’ll help you out :)
