Art AND Journalism- two things dear to my heart! Be sure to come see Jeremiah Ariaz’s work in May. I know I can’t wait!
Congratulations to BRG exhibiting artist member Jeremiah Ariaz on being named a 2026 Guggenheim Fellow in photography, one of the nation's most prestigious honors supporting exceptional creative work.
"Our new class of Guggenheim Fellows is representative of the world's best thinkers, innovators, and creators in art, science, and scholarship" says Guggenheim Foundation President Edward Hirsch.
Ariaz was one of the 233 distinguished individuals, across 55 disciplines, selected out of a total pool of 5,000 applicants. He was selected for his ongoing project, "The Fourth Estate in the Heart of America," which photo-documents newspaper offices across his home state of Kansas.
"The photographs celebrate the civic function, labor, and technology at the heart of local journalism, while also documenting an industry under threat, as are the ideals of democracy the industry upholds." Jeremiah Ariaz
Baton Rouge Gallery will present this work May 1-24, 2026, offering audiences the opportunity to experience this nationally recognized project firsthand.
