I’m a little shocked myself, to be honest.

I love working with families. Watching parents dote on their kids. Documenting the little details I know will mean everything years from now.

It’s never been something I’ve taken for granted.

But after a long season of reflection, I’ve realized this chapter is complete.

Or rather…almost complete.

Rachel Richards Photo + Film will officially close at the end of 2026.

I don’t have any grand plans for what comes next. I just know it will involve art.

Between now and December, I’ll be taking on a limited number of sessions. Just a few more families to serve before I step away from family films and photos forever.

So if you’ve been meaning to book, this is your moment.

Reserve your 2026 session before May 1 and I’ll take $800 off any session package of your choice.

My way of saying thank you for being part of this journey. 🤍

Hi, I’m Rachel. I film families the way I wish someone had filmed mine.

Not just the birthdays and big milestones, but the little, ordinary moments that actually hold everything together.

The hand-holding. The belly laughs. The big feelings. The stuff that leaves an imprint.

You don’t need to prep or perform.

Just be there. Just love on your people.

I’ll take care of the rest.

Fall film sessions are limited.

I met the Schroder family on the Verde Canyon Railway last fall, during an anniversary trip.

My husband and I were seated across from them, a family of four, and they immediately stood out because of how *present* they were with their young boys. The entire 4 hour train ride, I saw Nicole and Cody navigate all the ups and downs with patience, ease, understanding, attention.

On our way off the train, I stopped to tell them how much I appreciated seeing that kind of connection. Because, how often do you get told you’re doing a great job as a parent, really?

As it turns out, they were expecting a baby girl in March.
So we made plans to document life as a family of five once she arrived.

And when I showed up, nothing had changed. Still the same warmth, the same connection—just more of it to go around.

It’s a great reminder for us all. You don’t need a mansion or matching outfits to make something meaningful. You just need love.

That’s always been the secret ingredient.

Every Mother’s Day, we’re told to rest. To treat ourselves. To soak it in.

But for a lot of moms, that day feels like a performance. You’re still managing everything—just with a mimosa in hand.

In my line of work, I see how powerful it is when a mom *actually* gets to feel present. Not managing. Not multitasking. Not bracing for the next thing.

Just there. With her kids. With herself.

And kids feel it too. They light up in the presence of a present parent.

Then I pack up my gear, and it’s back to reality.

I know too many moms who feel like if they slow down in real life, everything will fall apart. So they don’t. They push through, waiting for another window of relief. Another slowed down photo session. Another Mother’s Day morning.

But this pace? It’s not sustainable.

It’s breaking us. I know—because it broke me.

So I built what I couldn’t find when I needed it most.

One of the coolest things about being a small business owner is all of the words of encouragement and acts of support I get to experience along the way.

The recent nomination for ‘s 2025 Best of the Valley is no different!

What if family photos didn’t feel so…performative?

No forced smiles. No perfect outfits. No pressure to “get it right.”

Just space to show up as you are — the chaos, the quiet, and everything in-between.

It’s freeing when you stop trying to fit into a box and let your story unfold naturally.

If that sounds like something you want for your own family mementos, let’s talk.

“Picture perfect” doesn’t mean polished or posed. It means capturing what’s real.

It’s the perfect glow of golden hour light in your family room, the way your toddler’s curls fall across their forehead, the infectious laughter bubbling up during a tickle fight.

Real life is beautiful. And I’m here to remind you of that.
