I didn't want to have feet pictures as the first photos, but this post is definitely about those first little details. So keep swiping to see the photos...

I love capturing the details. Little guy just pushed his feet through the crib like he knew I was there with the camera and I loved it.

All the first little newborn wrinkles in the forehead or the little rolls in the legs, I love capturing it all. Sometimes ears, belly buttons, the size of their heads...along with the fingers and toes. They don't look like this much longer...and they will never look this way again.

Apparently we’re bringing our childhood besties to now… and I would like to formally request that this trend NEVER ends.

There is something ridiculously sweet about photographing someone right on the edge of this huge new chapter of life, while they’re holding onto something that has been there since they were little.

is such a weird mix of “look how grown up I am” and “wait…how are we already here?”

So yes. Bring the stuffed animal. Bring the old blanket. Bring the thing that would make absolutely no sense to anyone else but means everything to you.

I want the stuff that tells me who you were before you became who you’re becoming.

I am often asked whether partners and children can be included in maternity photos. The answer is absolutely YES!

While this was a maternity session celebrating Joceline and the baby she was carrying, it was also about this season of their family. These were some of their final photographs as a family of four before welcoming a new baby and becoming a family of five.

Including Ryan and the girls allowed us to photograph more than Joceline’s pregnancy. We captured the girls loving on their mom’s belly, the family playing together in the Salt River, and the relationships that already surrounded this baby before they had even arrived.

Your maternity session can include portraits of you alone, photographs with your partner, and plenty of moments with your children. It does not have to be either a maternity session or a family session. It can be both.

Pregnancy changes the entire family, not only the person carrying the baby. Including everyone creates a beautiful record of who your family was during this brief chapter and the excitement surrounding whoever comes next.

It was an absolute joy working with this family at the river. It was mom's birthday (just 3 days past my own). The session was over.

I still hadn’t put my camera away.

After a morning filled with all the very real feelings that come with two young children, they finally got to sit in the shade with their lollipops. The pressure was gone. No one was asking them to smile.

And suddenly, there they were. Huge smiles, sparkling eyes, tiny teeth, and the sweetest dimples.

Sometimes my favorite photographs happen after everyone thinks we’re finished.

Sometimes you just have to trust your photographer when she says, “Just a little farther…” 📸

And then suddenly you’re laying in the water. 😂
