Leah came READY for this session. 😂

She needed updated professional photos, but she was also turning 40, and there was absolutely no reason those two things couldn’t happen in the same session.

So yes, we got the polished headshots. But we also created more relaxed portraits, headed to a local coffee shop for some working in the real world content, and made darn sure we celebrated 40 while we were at it. 🥳 Because professional photos don’t have to mean 25 versions of you smiling at the camera.

You need the photo that works perfectly on your website or LinkedIn. You also need the ones that give you something to post when you’re talking about your work, your personality, your life, or what’s happening behind the business.

That’s why I love creating variety in one session.

Your photos should be useful. They should feel like you. And you should have more than one option when you need a picture. 😂

Happy Labor Day! 🤍

As a small business owner, taking a day off without feeling like I should be doing something is a skill I’m still working on. 😂

But today, I’m taking my own advice. The work will still be there tomorrow. Today I’m resting, doing absolutely nothing productive, and I’m not even gonna feel bad about it. 😂

And Dolly said it better than I ever could… you are enough. 🤍

A good branding photo can be beautiful.

But if the person who knows you looks at it and thinks, “Who the hell is THAT?”… we missed the point. 😂

One of my favorite compliments I’ve ever gotten about a client’s photos wasn’t about the lighting, the location, or how polished they looked.

It was basically, “Now THAT’S her.”

And THAT is what I’m after. Yes, we’re going to make you look good. I’m going to fix the weird hand situation, tell you what to do with your body, watch the little details, and make sure the light is doing what it’s supposed to do.

But I also want the person your clients already know to actually show up in those photos. Because your branding photos shouldn’t turn you into some perfectly polished version of a stranger.

They should look and feel like you.

Okay Arizona… I think it’s officially time. 🌵📸

The boxes are unpacked, the major house projects are DONE, and Diana Marie Photo Studio is officially back to being my full-time job. 🙌 Which means my calendar is OPEN and I’m ready to start putting some Arizona faces in front of my camera.

Well… I survived the cross-country move, the boxes, the painting, and approximately 847 house projects, so I guess it’s official. 😂

Diana Marie Photo Studio has officially made the move from Virginia to Chandler, Arizona.

Virginia is where I built this business, found some pretty incredible clients, learned a whole lot, and created more memories than I could ever fit into one post. Starting over somewhere new is equal parts exciting and terrifying, but I’m so ready to see what this next chapter brings.

One of the things I’ve missed most these past few weeks is having my camera in my hands.

Between moving, unpacking, painting, and trying to figure out which box the movers packed everything in, life has been a little chaotic. 😂

So yeah I’m still getting settled and attempting to get my workspace together, but I’m getting excited to create again!

Arizona… I’m almost ready. 🤍

Omg THE MOVERS ARE HERE! There are already boxes EVERYWHERE, and apparently we rate the red carpet treatment…literally. 😂 They rolled out bright red runners throughout the house to protect the floors, and I couldn’t help but chuckle. What a great way to spend the 4th of July 🤣

After weeks of painting and getting settled, having all of our things finally arrive makes it feel like we’re turning a corner, although I gotta admit it’s a bit overwhelming 😬 but really once box at a time, this house will start to feel like home. Oh! and with every box that gets unpacked I’m one step closer to getting my camera back in my hands and serving business owners here in the Phoenix Metro area! I’ve been itching to take some pics guys!!

I can’t wait for this next chapter. 🤍

You guys, this is a biggie for me. As I get ready to leave Virginia, I’ve been thinking a lot about the people who made this chapter of my life so special. is definitely one who did that for me.

What started as a branding session turned into so much more than that. She became my realtor when it was time to sell my home. She was the one who encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone and photograph my first real estate listing when I was feeling COMPLETELY unsure of myself. I remember questioning whether I could even do it, but she never questioned my ability to deliver for her.

And when that house ended up getting multiple offers the first weekend it was listed, I may or may not have joked that it was obviously because of my listing photos. 😏😂 (For the record, I think her being an amazing realtor probably had a little more to do with it.)

But seriously you guys…she was my number one cheer leader. It really is a gift. She believed in me, and gave me the confidence to try something new when I wasn’t altogether convinced I was ready.

We’ve only known each other for a relatively short time, but somehow she became one of those people who feels like she’s been in my life MUCH longer. Something I never expected when I started this business. I thought I was building a portfolio, but what I was really building were relationships.

As excited as I am for this next chapter in Arizona, saying goodbye to people like Patrina is the hardest part for me 🥺

I’m so grateful our paths crossed, and I’m so thankful for every conversation, every session, every bit of encouragement, and every opportunity she trusted me with.

Some clients become friends, some friends become family, and she’ll always be one of the people I’ll miss most from Virginia. 🤍

You guuuyyyssss. One of the things I’m realizing as I get closer to this move is that I’m not just leaving places behind, I’m leaving people behind too.

I’ve gotten to photograph families, business owners, milestones, big moments, small moments, and so many of you became more than just names on my calendar.

Ti'Juana has been one of those clients.

Sessions like this are a reminder that I’ve been trusted with some really important pieces of people’s lives and businesses, and I don’t take it lightly.

As I wrap up my time here in Virginia, I keep finding myself feeling really grateful for the people I’ve met along the way.
