Welcome to Singapore! Visiting the Gardens by the Bay (in the rain) and bonus light and sound show offered each night (free!). We tried not to let the rain dampen our spirits, but we were running on fumes and zigging when we should have been zagging (it happens).

Some fun facts about the Supertrees: These vertical garden structures are covered in over 162,900 plants across more than 200 species, including orchids, ferns, bromeliads, and tropical climbing vines.

The new Siem Reap, Cambodia, Airport is one hour north of the city and is bright and cheerful like its people. The old airport, closer to the city, is out of service.

The new airport terminal roof canopy incorporates geometric patterns and architectural details that are directly inspired by the murals and stone carvings of Angkor Wat.

A towering 7-meter statue modeled after the iconic stone faces of Bayon and Ta Prohm temples, representing four-directional also welcomes arriving, and departing passengers.

While we needed a visa to visit this country, immigration is all automated and no stamp for the passport is given to air passengers. You’ll have to enter by land to get one. Another time…

There are many things to do in Siem Reap including night markets, Pub Street, lounging by the pool or dinner and a show. For our last night in Cambodia we enjoyed a traditional Khmer dance performances at Radam Theatre Restaurant. Lots of different food to choose from at the buffet (I tried just about everything).

The ladies were all beautiful and their moves kind of reminded me of tai chi. Slow and very precise.

Lotus Sulk Farm is a UNESCO award winning social enterprise run by women, and using every little bit of the flower. A beautiful little tour on the water and thru the process of making fabrics, tea and other goods.

Ta Prohm, known from the Tomb Raider movies, is an amazing Temple site. As a tree lover, this was incredible. Visiting during the tail end of the rainy season, I am extremely grateful that the weather was favorable. We were a smidge late in the day for my liking so the lighting was not ideal. If you’ve been on these types of tours, you know you have very limited time in each spot and they move you along pretty quickly. The complex is huge so a private tour may have afforded more time to explore. I did my best (and hope some of my camera images are better).

Wandering the streets of Siem Reap in Cambodia. This city has a good sized market, both day, and night, plus a party center in Pub Street. The area attracts back packers and those looking for a 5-star experience on a budget. With a population of 260,000, it’s easy to feel like a local in just a few days.

If you are a traveler, then you’ve probably been to Bangkok, Thailand. It is the most visited city in the world. According to global tourism data from Euromonitor International, Bangkok welcomes roughly 30.3 million international visitors annually, most passing thru this airport.

So many temples and interesting things to see in this city. The Grand Palace felt like it should not be missed! This giant statue caught my attention.
