✨The Beginning of Happily Ever After💍
When I decided to make photography a career, I had no idea how much joy it would bring me to show others just how beautiful they are.
When I was asked by Dylan to shoot his upcoming engagement in Sedona, I knew I had a momentous opportunity to do just that.
I had never shot in Sedona before, but I knew it was a place well known for its monumental landscape and stunning sunsets. It was the perfect backdrop for what would be an impossibly memorable day.
The plan was to convince the missus-to-be that we were just going out to shoot some portrait photos to mark Dylan’s success as the nation’s best collegiate shortstop, after he recently received the 2026 Brooks Wallace Award, and the beautiful relationship that has carried him along the way.
Plans shifted when we found out the parking lot was closed longer than expected. Instead of heading down to the river, we decided to take a slower hike up to the peak area of Cathedral Rock. We stopped several times along the way and turned our hike to the top into a story of a journey to a new chapter.
As much as my heart broke for the Pocket Fire burning while we were there, it gave us a historical marker for the day.
When we got to the top, we waited for our turn at the most beautiful point as the sun began to take its rest for the day. The onlookers knew, clear as day, what we had planned. Between a photographer, a beautiful woman in a white dress, and a handsome man with an obviously ring-shaped box in his pocket, it was blatantly obvious what was about to happen.
The couple found the perfect spot at the perfect angle as the sun cast its angelic beams into the ravine. I positioned myself for the shot and gave the reins to the man of the hour. Down on one knee, shaking like a leaf, he pulled the box from his pocket and offered his shining token as a devotion of love — and asked if she would be the woman of his forever.
Of course, she said yes, and the onlookers erupted into celebration.
With tears welling, the couple met their family waiting in hiding to congratulate them. Hugs, laughter, joy, and a bottle of bubbly poured all around.
