Will be a great evening!

Come to the HRM tonight, Friday, July 17, 8pm for a night of FREE, toe-tapping live music with Dom Flemons as he presents “The Bronze Buckaroo Film and Songster Show”! 🪕 NOTE: This performance will take place indoors due to poor air quality conditions.

Dom Flemons will perform songs from his Grammy-nominated album “Traveling Wildfire” as well as a selection of folk, blues, country, and bluegrass songs, taking you on an entertaining journey through a century of American roots music. He will be accompanied by a backdrop of scenes from the iconic 1939 silent film, “The Bronze Buckaroo,” which broke barriers as an all-Black cast film.

Doors open at 7:30pm. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Free parking is available.

The Summer Amphitheater Series is sponsored by Bank of America

Hudson River Museum is your best bet to avoid the smoke and heat!

Hot off the press! Check out this Chronogram article on our summer exhibitions, “Black Cowboys in America: Photographs by Ron Tarver” and “Robert Peterson: Journeys.”

“The two exhibitions form a natural dialogue. Tarver looks outward, documenting a community whose history has been overlooked; Peterson looks inward, building images rooted in memory, family, and personal connection. Together, they offer a broader vision of American identity—one where cowboys, caretakers, artists, parents, and dreamers all belong in the frame.”

Plus, join us this weekend for two special programs with the artists: “Artist Tour and Talk with Ron Tarver and Robert Peterson: Cowboy Culture and the Human-Horse Connection” on Saturday, July 18 at 2pm, followed by Portraiture Workshops with both artists on Sunday, July 19, 1:30–4pm.

Sitting with morning coffee. Leaves cast fresh Spring shadows on the old Sycamore Maple in the backyard. A cycle of life lasting over 140 years, the tree's origins unknown. The old lady has watched over this house all its life. Were you planted with care or fight your way through the earth, carried by an ancestor of these ever chattering squirrels? Scrambling around and around the fat trunk, they ignore me while a chorus of birds shout down. I hear only jibberish. In this moment I consider .renkl and , who inspire us to sit in this natural noise, as loud as any construction site, to find the quiet.
