I've known parts of this family since I was young, but we met properly as adults when Alex and Kaylor were still dating.

His parents are fixtures in the community. They hired me for birthday parties, anniversary celebrations, and eventually, their son's surprise engagement - where I hid in the bushes as rain poured down and Kaylor walked into a less-than-perfect moment like it was exactly what she'd hoped for.

She kissed her fiancé in the rain. Never complained about her hair. Her family had secretly flown in from Arizona, and I feared the weather would spoil it. Instead, it became the backdrop to one of the most joyful moments I've ever witnessed.

When they asked me to capture the wedding, I was honored. Planned in the same backyard garden, we made a meticulous timeline for the weekend. Two days of unrepeatable moments.

And again, the rain came.

But this family didn't flinch. The rain became a guest. It replaced the light at the altar. It framed their joy. It made everything more beautiful.

Congratulations, Alex and Kaylor. Let the rain be the background to your perfect story. 💛🌧️💍

P.S. This was Austin Gaspard’s first official photography role and the moments he captured made it into the hall of fame for this session. So grateful to have him.

Few shine brighter in our community than Dr. Paul Coreil. ✨

After more than 40 years of leadership in higher education and public service, and over a decade as Chancellor of LSUA, he is retiring this month. We had the honor of photographing him for Cenla Focus in front of the arch that was erected during his tenure. With his big, warm smile on a sunny day, he looked exactly as central Louisiana knows him: larger than life, beloved, and approachable.

But my favorite memory of Dr. Coreil isn't from that photoshoot. It's from watching him attend a film final for our intern Austin's class. He spoke with every student, asking thoughtful questions and offering eager praise. He didn't rush. He didn't glance at his watch. He just showed up for them.

That's who he is. That's the legacy he leaves.

Happy retirement, Dr. Coreil. You will be missed. 💛🎓
