Still taking family sessions and honestly, this might be one of the best times of year to book.

Early summer gives us cooler evenings, fewer bugs, lush green landscapes, and those unreal golden sunsets that make everything feel a little magical. The days are longer, the light is softer, and your kids can actually enjoy being outside without melting.

If you’ve been thinking about updating family photos, this is your sign. Summer calendars fill quickly, and these sunset sessions are always some of my favorites.

Still me, just showing up with a little refresh on who I am.

I’m Vanessa. I married the love of my life — 15+ years and counting. Two tiny humans call me “Mom” approximately 736 times a day, and two rambunctious rescue pups are the reason I can’t have nice things.

I’m a two-time severe , and that experience is woven into everything I am and the reason why this business even started.

I’m a photographer committed to making portraits that are beautiful, meaningful, and real. And yes, I will travel for sessions, I knew you’d ask. My soul has a deep need to wander and I work hard to feed it.

At home you’ll find me slowly turning my space into a jungle, buried in a book or blanket, cooking and cleaning in the kitchen for the millionth time, or going for a run/walk to clear my mind. I love a good drama series but I just really love to laugh. Send me all your favorite comedies!

Nature and music are my therapy. A sunrise or sunset surrounded by peace and quiet is my happiest place. I’m constantly working on becoming the human I want to be and letting go of everyone else’s expectations, one day at a time.

Quality time. Acts of service. Words of affirmation. That’s how I love, mostly in that order.

I will be dreaming of until we meet again.

I grew up watching nature shows and looking through National Geographic magazines. I didn’t know how much being in nature was necessity for me until the past decade or so. It’s a feeling I can’t put into words and usually comes out in tears.

Although I have a hard time with my body image and have felt like my body has failed me in the past, I am so incredibly grateful that it allows me to reach these peaks, take on the tough trails, and keep moving. Will never take that for granted.

I got to spend the weekend with one of my favorite people, my little sister , and thankful for the stars aligning and for us both to be able to go. (We booked everything the week before we left 🤪).

Spring is one of my favorite times of the year.

There’s something about spring in the Midwest that just feels like magic. 

After months of gray skies and hibernating, everything starts to wake up again—soft blooms, fresh greens, golden light…. It’s like the world is stretching and taking a deep and we get to watch it unfold  

And honestly? It’s one of the best times to update your photos.
