Victoria Bennett Beyer Photography In between life's road trips, I try to find the beauty in every day, capture it with my photography, and share it with you online and with fine art prints.

These little guys find a few perches where they can keep guard over the feeder and will sit there for 10 or 20 minutes or so, waiting for the chance to chase another hummingbird from the feeder. I hope they get good sleep at night because they appear to be 'ON' all day long. Who else can relate?

A friend took me on a hike to see some nearby petroglyphs and this one was my favorite. I am guessing a female bighorn sheep. This amazing art was created by the ancient Shoshone or Sheepeaters.

I've still got tons of hummingbird photos to edit, but I thought I'd switch it up today. I caught this gorgeous sunset on the 4th of July with my daughter.

This handsome fella is a rufous hummingbird, the ginger of the hummingbird world. There is an outsized attitude in that little body. When the broad-tailed hummingbirds showed up this year, the rufous defended the feeder with ferocity. Here he sits on a nearby log, watching his precious feeder so he can swoop in and scare off any interlopers.

Here's the female Broad-tailed hummingbird at the feeder. I can't get over the gorgeous spots on her throat.

Pretty much from the first day we started spending time in northwest Wyoming a few years ago, the hummingbirds were peeking in our windows, asking why we hadn't put out a feeder. So we did and they have been a huge source of entertainment ever since. Last year I got a few nice shots of them perched in a tree, but this year I wanted to capture them in flight. I took more than 3,000 photos of them this summer, in all different places and trying different techniques. Since I had left my laptop back home, I could only see on my camera screen the results of my labor and was never quite sure how I was doing. When I returned home and began going through all those shots, I was pleasantly surprised at what I had captured. I am still editing them, but I really was excited to start sharing them with you all. We had a second species appear this year. In addition to our faithful Rufous hummingbird we enjoyed watching Broad-tailed hummingbirds. That's what this lovely green fellow is.

This year's crop of lupine did not disappoint! It's one of my favorite things to drive around on summer mornings and breathe in all the beauty.

I'm finally getting around to editing my Wyoming photos from this summer. We were out for a few weeks but left abruptly to visit family that went into the hospital, so I won't have as much to share as I'd like, but that's life. I'm delighted to kick things off with this shot - the best moose photo I've ever taken. I'm sad to say there is currently a fire near this area and I'm checking the fire map and media constantly, hoping it can be contained, but things are not looking so good. Please keep Wyoming in your prayers.

This was the first time I have ever seen a red-spotted purple butterfly in my yard. It hung around my porch for hours and I couldn't get over how beautiful it was.
