One of the things I've enjoyed most about this calendar project is watching each model truly become her character.

Kelsey stepped right into the role, and before long it was easy to imagine an early morning in the mountains... the campfire crackling, cowboy coffee brewing, and another day on the trail just beginning. Those little details are what bring these images to life and transform them from a portrait into a story. At first I wasn't sure why in the inspiration photo she was holding her dress like that, and Carol, Kelsey's Mom informed me cause it was hot..she was using her dress as a pot holder!!

There's just something about a classic truck and a cowgirl that never goes out of style.

Kylie embraced the vintage Western pin-up theme perfectly, bringing confidence, personality, and timeless style to her session. Paired with this beautifully restored Chevrolet pickup, the scene captures the nostalgic feel I envisioned for this calendar project.

One of the things I've enjoyed most about creating this calendar has been watching each model take the same vintage concept and make it uniquely their own. Every session has had its own story, its own personality, and its own Western flair.

I'm so grateful to everyone who has stepped in front of my camera and trusted my creative vision. (And to all those who loan us props, vehicles, clothing etc.!) I can't wait to reveal the completed calendar and all of the incredible women who helped bring it to life.

🎶 Saturday nights, good friends, and country music... 🤠

Every western town has a place where stories are shared, boots tap to the beat, and someone always ends up singing a favorite song. This month of the Western Pin-Up: A Nostalgic Calendar Project brings that feeling to life.

Meet Alice, whose smile and infectious energy made it easy to imagine a packed honky-tonk where the music never stops and the crowd is always ready for "one more song."

And here's a fun little behind-the-scenes secret... I managed to sneak my son, his boyfriend. Noah (Alice's son) and their friend Matt into this shot! 😄They are the "patrons" cheering Alice on from the bar, so this calendar image has a little extra meaning for me.

Each month of this calendar celebrates a different piece of western life, blending vintage pin-up inspiration with real people, real stories, and a little nostalgic charm.

I can't wait to share more of what's still to come.

Photography will always be where my heart is. ❤️ There's just something about freezing a single moment in time that tells a story forever.

That said... every now and then it's fun to step outside my comfort zone! While I'm definitely more photographer than videographer, I thought I'd put together a short highlight video from this past weekend at Hoppel's Rodeo. (Friday night, Saturday's footage will come later)

A huge thank you to my hubby, Sean, who handled the drone so we could capture a perspective I simply can't get from the ground. Together we were able to include the incredible skydiver carrying the American flag, the opening ceremonies, the Grand Entry, and a few other moments that help tell the story of the evening.

I hope adding a little video alongside the images gives everyone an even better feel for the excitement and atmosphere of the rodeo. While my passion will always be creating dramatic still images, it's fun to offer a little something extra when the event calls for it.

I'll be back at Hoppel's Arena tonight to capture all the exciting rodeo action!

It was definitely a hot one last night, but once the sun dipped below the horizon, the storms rolled in. I managed to stick it out through the end of slack before heading home.

Now let's hope Mother Nature cooperates tonight so we can enjoy an incredible evening of rodeo action and end it with some amazing fireworks! 🎆🤠

Today we celebrate the freedoms we often take for granted and remember those who have sacrificed so much to protect them. From the brave men and women who have served our country to the families who have stood beside them, thank you.

☀️ Nothing says summer quite like making memories with your horse.

Whether you're cooling off with a swim, heading out on an early morning trail ride, spending the day at a horse show, or simply relaxing around the barn, these are the moments we'll remember long after summer is over.

One of my favorite things about horses is that they aren't just part of our lives...they're part of our adventures. Every splash, every laugh, every trail, and every sunset becomes another story you'll tell for years to come.

With the 4th of July weekend here, how are you and your horses (or pets!) staying cool and having fun? Are you swimming, trail riding, camping, competing, or just enjoying some well-deserved downtime?

One of the things that has always been important to me is continuing to learn.

Most people know me for photographing horses, dogs, and the incredible relationships they share with the people who love them. But this past weekend, I stepped outside my comfort zone and attended a food photography workshop.

Why? Because photography is photography. Learning to shape light, build a scene, tell a story, and make your subject stand out only makes me a stronger photographer, whether that subject has four legs, two legs, or happens to be a delicious peanut butter mouse dessert! (plus the taste testing it was amazing!)

I attended this workshop to improve the food photography I do in my full-time position, but I came home inspired in so many other ways. It reminded me that there is always something new to learn, and that growth happens when we're willing to try something completely different.

One thing I love about photography is that it never lets you stop learning. Every workshop, every challenge, and every new experience teaches me something that I can bring back to all of my clients.

Meet Poppy! 🧡

One of the sweetest souls I had the pleasure of photographing while I was in Vermont.

I was actually in Vermont for a food photography workshop to improve my skills for my full-time job. But since I'm also participating in the Unleashed photography challenge Embark, I really wanted the opportunity to photograph a dog while I was there. So I reached out to my photographer friends and asked if they knew anyone who might be interested in a model call.

That's how I met Clementine and her beautiful girl, Poppy.

The three of us spent the evening hiking along the river, exploring the landscape and finding one beautiful location after another. Poppy was completely in her element, whether she was cooling off in the water, standing proudly on the rocks, or peeking through the ferns.

What amazes me is how photography has changed my life. If you had asked me 10 or 20 years ago if I'd meet up with someone I'd never met, spend the evening hiking with them and their dog, having dinner and come home feeling like I'd made a new friend, I would have laughed. That just wasn't me. I've always been a bit on the shyer side.

But photography has taken me places I never imagined I'd go. It's introduced me to incredible people, their amazing horses and dogs, and friendships that never would have happened otherwise. Looking back, I'm incredibly grateful for where this journey has led me.

Thank you, Clementine, for sharing Poppy with me and for showing me such a beautiful corner of Vermont. ❤️
