This semester at Point Park, I am teaching a fashion photography course - for the first time. I have avoided the topic, but this year I have students with the passion and interest to go down the rabbit hole with me. I used to say fashion ended just east of Pittsburgh, but over the last twenty years we've had American Eagle, Rue21, Dick's Sporting Goods, and a slew of local designers and fashion-adjacent people make Western Pennsylvania their home, so this class makes sense now. I have been digging through my archives and found this picture made in Billings, Montana, during an Esquire Magazine shoot with Actor/Model/Rodeo Cowboy Brad Johnson - who, btw, took the picture. It was cold and rainy, but we had a lot of fun with this crew. Kurt Markus, Me, Susan Claire, John Mather, and Lynn Barron.
The story was illustrated on working ranches around Billings, and a few cowboys were cast to play themselves. These adventures are packaged with a lot of stories I remember every once in a while. For this class, I am reconnecting with people whom I used to work with- photographers, assistants, stylists, editors, models. If you are one of these people, DM me; I would love to record an interview for this class.
