Some weddings are about the venue.
Some weddings are about the city.
This one was both.
Jennifer and Joe got ready at the InterContinental New York Barclay, which felt a little nostalgic because it’s the same hotel where we photographed their engagement session. The only difference? Last time it rained. This time, July decided to give us sunshine and temperatures that felt more like September. I’ll take it.
Jennifer had one request: “I want New York City to be part of the story.”
So that’s exactly what we did.
Classic architecture. Skyline views. A little walking. A lot of laughing. We chased the sunset along the Hudson River, and somehow ended the night with ice cream. (Huge shout out to Andy at Current by The Pier Sixty Collection for making that happen. Totally unnecessary, completely appreciated, and exactly the kind of hospitality that makes a wedding unforgettable.)
The wedding party brought all the color with a rainbow of soft pastels, the traditional lion dance brought incredible energy to the reception, and my favorite part of the day was watching Joe’s two children woven into every part of the celebration. You could tell this wasn’t just a wedding—it was a family becoming even more of a family.
Jennifer & Joe, thank you for trusting me with your New York story. What a day.
