I really want to say that I'm doing the BEST I can to get back in the saddle with my photography, but I'm not... I can do better. When it is something that brings me SUCH joy, I don't really understand why I don't make it more of a priority in my life again.... All I can do is say I'm going to try, keep my batteries charged, lenses at the ready, and get out there.

Ya' gotta start somewhere. A simple pic of the Blue Moon last night.

Ruby-Throated Hummingbird Images from 7/31. The female on the nest is obvious. Feeding 2 Nestlings. The Immature Male is at the Salvia (note spotting on neck that will turn ruby red), the female on the limb is also the mother of the nestlings.

Enjoy! Thanks for looking!

I'm confident that my garden is paying me back for nurturing it by singing to me in return. What joy this brought to me today. I hope it does for you the same as it did for me. This tiny little cucumber tendril made the shape of a Treble Clef and I had to get a shot of it before it wrapped itself around the trellis.
Maybe this can help me get back to my joy of photography too? I'll be posting this in a few places so I'm sorry if you see it more than once. ❤

*I was quite far away with a 150-600 mm lens so there was no disturbance of the nest.

There are many many kinds of sparrows. They're not all House Sparrows (which are not native to the US). North America has over two dozen types of sparrows that are native. This is one of them and one of my favorites. Sweet little birds they are.
American Tree Sparrow.

How to Identify them is by their size - smaller than a House Sparrow. Also the little brown line there coming from their eye towards the back of their heads, and a small black spot right in the center of their chest. Unable to see the spot here obviously, but it's there 😉 The ATS is a sweet little bird that frequents feeders this time of year in the Northern US.

These little ones will head back north soon to breed all the way up in to Alaska! I miss them when they're gone...... I'll put a link below in comments to a page with more info if you'd like to see more pictures of one.

This handsome Red-bellied Woodpecker was in hot pursuit of a lady friend. They call them Red-bellied as on his front, he has a little rosy colored spot. Very agile and enjoyable birds to watch.

Immature (probably 3rd or 4th year) Bald Eagle
Fox River - Oswego - IL.

I got lucky and was able to see an Eagle yesterday while out doing a little birding. This one was SUPER far away across the Fox River from where I was, but I was able to crop in a bit to get a closer view in post processing. Any closer in and all you would see is pixels. LOL! At least I nailed the focus even though I was handholding my heavy 150-600mm lens.

I stood and watched this one for a good 45 minutes hoping it would go in for a fish, but it seemed content and chill where it was. I needed to walk the dogs before sundown so I had to leave eventually. HAHA!
