Hard to believe it was 51 years ago this month that I opened Photo Royale Studios, fresh out of the Air Force as a photographer and eager to turn my photography into a career. This photo is from around 1977—feels like another lifetime.
I stepped away from my cameras in 1986 to explore other business ventures, but photography has a way of pulling you back. Twenty-five years later, I couldn't resist the itch and eventually found myself purchasing my first digital camera equipment and four years later purchasing Blair & Webber's Studio in 2015. Three years later, I checked off a “bucket list” goal I'd set for myself back in my 20s: earning my Master of Photography degree from the Professional Photographers of America.
I hung up my camera professionally (for the second and final time) in 2022, but the memories I have of my life's passion will be with me the rest of my days.
