Such a fun night at the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan - Wayne Wine & Garden Party with guest host Michigan Supreme Court Justice Megan Cavanagh.

I got to photograph the evening, see so many people I love running into, and of course take a few selfies along the way because apparently that has become my thing. 😂

So happy to see everyone again, and so excited for Maya Younis as as President of WLAM Wayne.

What a beautiful way to kick off this beautiful fall weather.

Ask Kelly Kuras who inspires her, and she won't point to an industry leader or a famous executive. She'll talk about the employee who got the kids to school, sat through a parent's doctor's appointment, then still showed up to work looking put together.
She thinks most people are doing far more than anyone acknowledges, somewhere between hero and child, quietly carrying their own world without anyone saying thank you. What most people don't know about Erin Sudrovech, Chief of Staff for Mayor Bryan Barnett and the City of Rochester Hills: in 8th grade, she played Dorothy in her school's production of The Wizard of Oz.
It's a fun detail, but it's also a small hint at something true about her now. She describes herself as passionate, kind, and funny, three things that don't always show up on an official bio but matter enormously in a job built on representing a city and its leadership to partners, sponsors, and the public. Her personal motto is simple: do your best and be kind. It's not flashy, but it's the kind of thing that actually holds up under the daily juggle of community events, full-time work, and raising two kids at the same time, which she'll tell you, without exaggeration, is her real biggest accomplishment.

Kelly Kuras's personal motto came from her grandmother, passed down through her mother: do the best you can with what you have at the moment.
In her coaching work now, she sees people waiting constantly. For the right time. The right budget. The right team in place. Her answer is always the same: the deadline is today, the client is today, so figure out what's actually possible right now and do that. It's not a flashy philosophy. It's just the one that's actually served her.

Kirsten Silwanowicz's personal motto: use your voice for good, and help others find theirs.
It sounds simple enough to put on a mug. What it actually requires is the harder work of stepping into visibility you didn't necessarily ask for, because the alternative is letting the next generation of women lawyers figure it out without anyone ahead of them showing the way. That's the kind of leadership she's trying to model, both in her legal career and in her new role at WLAM.
