It was an honor to capture the celebration, firework show and celebrate our nation's 250th anniversary at the Bannock County Events Complex. The demolition of the historic Monarch Building continues to move forward, and the crew is making steady progress while taking every precaution to protect the neighboring buildings, pedestrians, and passing traffic. Projects like this require patience, precision, and safety every step of the way, and it's clear the crews are working hard to complete the job with as little disruption to Historic Downtown Pocatello as possible.

If you're walking or driving through the area, please slow down, stay alert, and respect the safety fencing. Giving the crews the space they need helps keep everyone safe while this chapter of Pocatello's history comes to a close.

I stopped by the Monarch Building again today to capture another photo of this historic landmark. Demolition has officially begun, but the work is moving slowly and carefully. With neighboring businesses just feet away, crews are taking every precaution to safely remove the building while minimizing the impact on the surrounding downtown area. Let's all stay alert when walking or driving through this area and give the demolition crew the space they need to complete this job safely.

It's never easy to watch a piece of local history come down, but it's important to document these moments and preserve them for future generations.

If you're looking for a great place to get outside, Gibson Jack Trail is hard to beat. Whether you're hiking, trail running, mountain biking, bird watching, or simply enjoying the scenery, it's one of the best places to experience the outdoors around Pocatello. If you haven't explored Gibson Jack yet, it's definitely worth adding to your list.

Hello, everyone! Sorry it's been so long since my last local update. Summer has been incredibly busy, but I'm finally starting to get caught up. I recently had the opportunity to document the Monarch Building in Historic Downtown Pocatello, Idaho as it awaits demolition. Built in 1909, the building stood for more than a century before a devastating fire in 2014 left it beyond repair. Watching a piece of local history reach its final chapter is bittersweet, and I wanted to capture this moment before it becomes part of the past.

Thanks for following along and for all of your support. I'm looking forward to sharing more of the history, landmarks, and stories that make Pocatello such a special place.
