Grizzly 1063 with her littles. Only two days before she would lose them to depredation. 💔

This was one photo I got just Saturday the 10th. Beautiful grizzly 1063, aka: Bonita or Fritter.

Sadly, 1063 lost these yearling cubs only two days later. She was seen alone Tuesday morning. Apparently, it was depredation by another bear. Heartbreaking.

Although I only knew Grizzly 399 for two years, she changed me. This is my own small tribute to her.

Fly high, beloved Queen of Grand Teton. You’ve given us the gift of witnessing true wilderness through your strength and grace. Queen #399 and her yearling cub, Spirit!

This was a dream shot for me. 🥰 Pure magic witnessing the two of them cross this stream and then into the trees where the cub nursed and they napped for a bit and then moved deeper into the trees.
