ALASKA CRUISE TRIP - PART 18 - Johns Hopkins Glacier, June 1, 2025.
This was the second glacier we were able to see in Glacier Bay. One of the most famous tidewater glaciers in Glacier Bay National Park, Johns Hopkins Glacier sits in the far northwestern corner of the bay, at the end of its namesake Johns Hopkins Inlet. In my opinion, this was the most beautiful and picturesque of all the glaciers we saw, because the location of Mount Orville and Mount Wilbur in the background really make a great composition. Johns Hopkins is 12 miles long, about 1 mile wide and is one of the few glaciers that is actually advancing, rather than shrinking! The ice front extends under sea level to a depth of about 200 feet 😲🥶
