don't let gear hold you back: use what you have, and upgrade when you can.

don't stop yourself from creating "until I get better gear" and don't struggle with gear that isn't keeping up with you longer than you need to.

find the balance.

All you need is a camera with control over exposure time, a tripod, and a light (it could be your phone flashlight!)

1: setup your camera on the tripod and make sure it doesn’t move - it has to be the same in all the shots
2: take one shot exposing for the brightest part of your scene - in this case the headlights
3: take one or two more shots exposing for the darkest parts and the midtones of your scene.
4: set your exposure time to around 5-10 seconds (I used a 15 sec exposure for these shots)
5: press the shutter and move the light around the scene
6: bring the images into your photo editor, and change the blend mode to lighten
7: adjust the opacity of the layers until the photo looks how you want
