Love them or hate them, they are a sight to be seen. A bit of a challenge to capture all the depth of their incredible deep ebony iridescent black color. Has more to do with how I shot them. Iโ€™ll be posting more shots in a different series that hopefully shows slight variations depending on the light and background. Gorgeous nonetheless..โฃ

I decided to repost my dragonfly to try and address image quality loss during import into IG. โฃ

I see that some have figured out the secret sauce to maintaining original high-quality images, in spite of Instagrams file compressing and ratio limits. Iโ€™m no expert and havenโ€™t figured out all the best methods to avoid unwanted image artifacts. The idea is to increase the resolution so when Instagram compresses it youโ€™ll have more detail in the posted photo. โฃ

So for my Dragon Fly photo, I already cropped it to 4:5 then during export, I changed the resolution to 3500 x 3500. Instead of IG recommend 1080 ร— 1080. Anything above 3000 on the longest edge doesnโ€™t seem to matter. โฃ
โฃ
Iโ€™ve seen some great compositions but it seems some image quality has been lost during import. Iโ€™d like to display the best from what I shoot as I continue to work on equipment and skill. โฃ

So many of the smallest flowers are stunning. In this case, itโ€™s beauty is in itโ€™s simplicity. โฃ

Photographer side note: this flower along with many others were sitting on a massive ๐Ÿœ ant colony. Likely multiple colonies, about the size of a tennis court. As much as I would have love to caught some pictures of them, they were not trying to have me hang around. Since they were biting and stinging, ๐Ÿ˜ซI didn't bother to try to identify the species let alone take pictures of them. The Price we pay to get the shot. ๐Ÿ˜โฃ
