OKAY… BEFORE I GET PUT ON THE NASCAR WANTED LIST… 😂🏁

I figured I better clear up my post from the other day about the media side of racing.

Apparently I may have created a little confusion, so let me put the old guy glasses on and explain myself. 🤓😂

When I was talking about Florida drivers, I was specifically talking about HERE IN CHARLOTTE COUNTY AND THE SURROUNDING/NEIGHBORING COUNTIES.

Yes, I KNOW there are other Florida drivers in NASCAR. I promise, I haven't completely lost my mind yet. 😂

My point was simply to bring a little attention to the local racing talent right here in our own backyard.

And there are some REALLY good ones.

Not just NASCAR either. We've got drivers from this area competing in dirt racing, late models, sprint cars, modifieds, NHRA, IndyCar and just about every other form of racing you can think of.

And here's the other thing…

IT'S NOT JUST THE DRIVERS!

There are crew members, mechanics, fabricators, car owners, engine builders, photographers, media people and all the other folks who work their tails off behind the scenes.

A lot of these people are from small towns and local communities, and they're out there representing Florida all over this country.

Sometimes they don't get the attention they deserve because they aren't driving the car everybody recognizes on Sunday afternoon.

That's really all I was trying to say.

So, for those who thought I was saying “Florida only has THIS many NASCAR drivers”… NOPE. 😂

For those who thought I was ignoring everybody outside Charlotte County… NOPE.

And for those who thought I was picking a fight with NASCAR…

Well… give me a minute. I might find something to complain about. 😂😂

Seriously though, there are AWESOME racers and racing people all over this country, and one of the things I enjoy about doing what I do is trying to shine a little light on the ones who might otherwise get overlooked.

So let's support the local racers, the local tracks, the local teams and the people busting their butts to keep this sport going.

Just wanted to clear that up before I had to hire an attorney. 😂🏁📸

Now… back to taking pictures.

🏁 FLORIDA RACING GETS IT DONE! 🏁

As most of you know, if I see it and I have time to post it, I like to give a little kudos to the Florida race teams and drivers. Why? Because a lot of the country seems to overlook Florida when it comes to racing.

Well... maybe they should start paying attention. 👀

Last night, young Trey Mills headed north to Brownstown Speedway and did something pretty darn impressive.

He WON... in his FIRST visit to Brownstown! 🏆🔥

Think about that for a minute. New track, new surroundings, and a place that has plenty of history and plenty of tough competition, and Trey rolls in from Florida and leaves with the win.

That's something worth recognizing.

Florida has a LOT of talented racers. From the dirt tracks to the asphalt, from the young guys just getting started to the veterans who have been doing it forever, there is some serious racing talent coming out of the Sunshine State.

And every once in a while, one of them goes somewhere else and reminds everybody:

“Hey... we can race too.” 😎🏁

Congratulations to Trey Mills and everyone involved with the team. First trip to Brownstown and you leave with the win?

Not a bad way to introduce yourself.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND... AND NOW THE BIG QUESTION... WHERE THE HELL DO I TAKE THE CAMERA? 📸🏁

Labor Day weekend all over the country means one thing to a lot of us... RACING! 🏁

But here close to me... ZERO. ZIP. NADA. 😂

There is racing at Volusia, but honestly, I just don't feel like climbing in the truck and driving four hours each way just to get my racing fix. I know... I know... that's probably some kind of photographer blasphemy. 🤣

One of the things I really miss is the old Labor Day Double. There was just something about that weekend and getting two races in one day. Of course, that doesn't even happen anymore. Things change, I guess.

So now I'm sitting here thinking...

WHERE DO I TAKE THE CAMERA THIS WEEKEND? 🤔📸

I've heard there is a Songwriter Festival at Sunseeker this weekend, and I have to admit, that has me intrigued a little bit. Turns out it's the inaugural Sunseeker Songwriter Series, with Nashville songwriters performing songs they've written for some pretty big names in country music and telling the stories behind them. 🎶

Now THAT could be something different to photograph.

Of course, there is always the possibility that I end up doing absolutely nothing productive...

Maybe the camera stays in the bag.

Maybe the truck stays in the driveway.

Maybe I end up planted firmly in the recliner with the computer nearby, watching FloRacing and DirtVision and pretending I'm at the track. 😂

That's the beauty of Labor Day weekend when you're a photographer...

You never really know where you're going to end up until you get there.

So what about you guys and gals?
