There is always 2 ways to shoot a lunar eclipse. I used a lens tonight that doesn’t come out very often due to it’s size and weight. The “Sigmonster” , a 300-800mm with a 2x teleconverter, equivalent to 1600mm. The lens weight is like carry a small child and 26” long with hood. Sigmapro

Chasing these little guys always helps me perfect my focusing skills. Setting the camera to single-point focus forces me to chase this dragonfly around until this fancy flyer is in focus. Yes, could I “cheat” and set the camera to multi-point continuous focus? I could.

When I first started shooting 38 years ago, we didn’t have all the fancy software in our cameras — we had to manually set everything, rely on skill, predict our subject’s next move, and shoot.

I always try to go back to how I started shooting, so I don’t forget the talents I was blessed with — the ones that brought me to where I am today.
