I've been holding on to this session for many months bc I wanted to share it at Christmas time. It's one of my most favorite, fun, and meaningful family sessions in my 17+ years of business, and I'm so thrilled to now know this fun & crazy momma and her most precious, darling little babies.
When Stacy reached out to me in the spring, I didn't even know her. I had seen her name on FB, kinda knew she was family friends with one of my dear friends/clients, but other than those two details, I knew nothing of her.
Then we got on the phone to talk and my goodness, I was thoroughly entertained and laughed so much! I learned about her two sweetheart children, her connection to Portageville (they live almost 4 hours away now) and about her family, her job in the tv/news industry, and her love of St. Louis Cardinals.
As we planned for the session, I knew it would be fun, but when they showed up at my studio, I was in for a big ol' treat complete with many boxes and bags of clothes, shoes, paint, signs, picture frames, St. Louis Cardinals memorabilia (and lots of it!), and of course, the fun, joy & chaos!
One of her biggest requests was to get a family portrait with her STL Cards gifts & memories, and I got to hear the stories behind the many pictures of her, as well as her parents and best friend, and getting to meet some of the players. Also, Stacy literally has one of the 200 (I think?) signed Stan Musial bats, plus a signed Matt Holliday bat!
Another important aspect of this session was to photograph them at the Mississippi River in New Madrid to pay homage to her father's legacy of working on the river. And my goodness, the colors for their outfits were so perfect for the end of day sky!
We ended the session at the studio the next morning with the kids and their cousin in adorable pajamas with their handprinted canvases on display and some fun props, including a beautiful quilt gifted to them.
Undoubtedly, this was such a fun session and incredible time bonding with Stacy and her sweet, pretty babies. Stacy told me she had never liked pictures of herself and never had family portraits made, and when she saw her images, she said, "I love these! You did an amazing job, Steph!"
And that, my friends, is what it's all about: making people love what I see and create for them. I'm truly honored for the privilege that I am afforded to work with so many people to create the very best work for them to love and cherish for a lifetime. And now, I have the distinct honor to have a multitude of my work in the form of wall art portraits in their home.
Stacy, aka "Auntie", you are truly one of the most interesting, hilarious, most-loving people I have ever met, while also being a fireworks display ran by minions on crack! ❤️😂 And I say that with all the love and admiration for you! Your babies, oh your sweet, kind, beautiful, loving babies--they have my heart! They were so much fun to photograph, but also to just talk to and connect with them beyond the camera. You are truly a remarkable woman, but even more importantly, an astounding mother and it shows in the way your children are.
Thank you for a wonderful, crazy session weekend, thank you for always stopping by my studio to be "security" 🤣, and thank you for giving me the privilege calling you "Auntie" as so many others do. I can't wait to visit with you soon! Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful children! Love you!❤️
