Have you seen the AMAZING c’waam mural (orignial art by Rowena Jackson) at SE 7th & Sandy yet?! 🌊🐟 It’s more than beautiful—it’s a whole transformation.

Last weekend, this intersection came alive as Kitana, Chris, and the crew scaled out two giant c’waam—32' and 23' long—swimming up 7th Street, right on that hot pavement in nearly 100° heat. ☀️🔥

Huge thanks to Brigit Steele, whose lens, creativity, and uber talent help tell the story of how this space was literally transformed. 📸✨ And thank you to Kitana, Christopher, and the entire team—you all are OUTSTANDING. 💛

And get this: it was our FIRST TIME organizing/executing a street mural… for ALL of us. 🙌🎨 That’s community power in action.

Portland Indigenous Marketplace (PIM) has been partnering with Depave on the Future Green Plaza (FGP) at 7th & SE Sandy AND PIM’s Plant Plaza at the 737 SE Sandy site! This mural was a joint Depave × PIM project to highlight both upcoming neighborhood projects. 🏙️🌱

A little behind the scenes from creating this blackberry mocktail image.

One light. A few thoughtful adjustments. Watching how the light wrapped around the glass and brought the mint, lemon, and blackberry tones to life.
I captured this during Studio 22's open house after a trip from north of Seattle to Salem. Beyond the images, one of the best parts of the day was creating alongside a room full of photographers who were encouraging, collaborative, and generous with their ideas.

It's a reminder that intentional lighting can make a simple beverage feel anything but ordinary.
