"Red Rain" - A rare shower cleanses this cheetah after a successful hunt and meal. The group fed in shifts and as this one watched the rest had their fill.

I like this image as it hints to the ferocity of the struggles each animal faces without being overtly gory. You know what the red is but the hint of it as the rain helps wash it away feels like it softens the moment a small bit.

More from this family of beautiful cheetahs coming soon! I hope you enjoy, L-

"Birds of a feather" - I had been chasing an image like this for a while, and it took some work to get but I finally got the composition and light I was looking for in this image. The singular eye sticking up is a fun little tease and gives the image and the moment some fun and the texture and feel of the shot makes me smile still. I hope you enjoy, L-

"Tag along" - Keeping with the family theme - this pair was spotted in Laikipia during a period of drought. The mom was leading her calf to water which was miles away. The powerful family dynamic of elephants is truly amazing and something everyone should experience at least once in a lifetime! I hope you enjoy, L~

"Babe in Mother's Arms" - This was one of my favorite days while in Uganda. I simply love being among the gorillas. They have a presence and being about them that is amazing. You sense that they can and do understand us and we them. The pure emotional attachment they have to the family structure is touching and awe inspiring to see first hand.

Each visit is limited (in most cases) to just 1 hour - those 60 minutes simply fly by! I try and take time every time I see them to put aside my cameras for a few minutes to just enjoy being in their presence and not be taking images etc. I hope you enjoy~ L-

"Great Blue" - The Great Blue Turaco of Uganda is a highly sought after photographic "prize" for birders and non-birder photographers alike. This bird puts on an amazing display with it's colorful plumage and some consider the feathers lucky talismans. Here's hoping you aren't "blue" that it's Monday! I hope you enjoy, L~

"Grooming time" - An adult Yellow Baboon pays meticulous attention to the grooming of a little one. The whole troop will engage in grooming behavior of each other often, as both a necessary measure to remain clean and well tended to, but also as a soothing and comforting measure. This helps build bonds within the troop and promotes healthy, happy cohabitation.

I'm always fascinated by these guys, they are NOT the most loved among experienced travelers, they are well know for grabbing anything left about within camps and will quickly learn how to get into rooms and the remains of a baboon tossed room look akin to a crime scene lol. However, they do have a cool energy to them and I find myself drawn to them whenever I see them in the field.

I hope you enjoy, L~

"How close?" - When you get the reflection of your vehicle in the eye of the (yes it would have been cool if this was a Tiger and I could have said "Eye of the Tiger" - alas) animal you are next to... maybe you're to... nah - not too close at all! I have 1000% confidence in the amazing guides I work with. They are the best of the best, men and women who know these animals so well it's as if they were family.

This male was putting on a very nice display of calm regality as it kept its eyes on the pride, the fields in front of it and very much so... us. I always enjoy fun reflections in images and this one just shows how close we get to these amazing creatures. I hope you enjoy, L~

"Colors of the wild" - This flat headed rock agama is one of the most colorful little guys I've ever seen in the wild. The colors and textures of the entire body is a treat for the senses! I love finding these little guys in good light and close enough to really get all that cool texture in the image. I hope you enjoy, L~

Hello all, returning from a bit of a posting hiatus!

"Four of a kind" - It's not often a mother elephant will allow her youngest to be on the "people" side of encounters - especially when they are this young. The greater herd here was over 40 elephants strong so perhaps that helped her relax - or perhaps it was our soft humming/singing that told these ele's we were no threat - either way - the mom in back being relaxed and comfortable allowed this shot to come together. I'll be back to posting on a more normal schedule and I hope you all enjoy~ L-

Happy World Cheetah day! Only through conservation and awareness can we keep healthy populations of these amazing animals intact. This young cub was one of a coalition of four cheetah that had to be diverted away from a human interaction on the edge of a conservancy along the border of Kenya and Tanzania. Luckily the right folks were around that day and no cheetah were harmed, no bad human cheetah interaction occurred and this coalition went on to successfully hunt later that day. I hope you enjoy, L~

"Lazing away the day" - When you land and are greeted by this boy high in a tree you know it's going to be a good day. Full after a successful hunt and enjoying the heat of the day this amazing leopard was reaping the rewards of being a skilled hunter. Leopards are wonders to behold and some of the most skillful solo hunters around. I hope you enjoy, L~
