𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵—𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 📸

One of my goals since the start of 2025 is to photograph more personally. Just daily life, trips, anything I find interesting or beautiful.

And my gosh it feels like flexing a muscle I haven't used...which is weird 'cause I literally take photos for a living 🙈

After so long of photography being "work" for me, it felt so foreign and sooo refreshing to take photos 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦. No deadlines, no obligation to perform or excel or improve or even share. Just a chance to take notice and click the shutter.

Best goal ever 🥹❤️ I look back at these photos now and they make me feel so many feelings. These will forever remind me of places I've been, the random hang outs with friends, the light that just looked so good through the windows, the things past Lennie thought was pretty 🥹 They only get better with time

But yeah all that rambling just to say—take the photos. Take them whenever you feel like it. Take them imperfectly with potato quality. Future you will look back on them and be so happy 🥰

You know when you're so excited about someone's plans you can't wait til they stop talking so you can say I'M IN? That was me when Brienna was sharing her vision for her + Jay's session while they explored the Southern Oregon Coast. Both of us love the concept of "big landscapes, tiny people" and it was so much fun to really lean into it for this whole session 🥹

TODAY'S THE DAYYYY!!! ✨✨✨ Ilumina Photography is now Elena Popescu Photo!

Damn I might actually tear up a lil bit 🥹 ilumina was my first ever business name when I started in 2017! My old logo was my first professional one I ever had and I kept it all this time.

Even when I first launched my business back then, there was always a tiny part of me that wished my business name could be my *actual* name. Something undeniably me and personal. Something that could grow and shift with me. Ilumina transformed into that a little bit, but over the past year I felt that calling to change it, wayyy more intensely than before. In my gut I knew—this time it's for real. 🥹

I had the absolute honor to work with for the new look, and I'm OBSESSED with it! ✨😍 Sarah was absolutely amazing and created something that vibes with me and who I am so well 🥹

Anyway yeah I'm crazy excited for this, and am beyond grateful for all of you guys for being here through it all ❤️ Can't wait to see what the rest of 2026 has!

You know what's weird. My December calendar was completely session free 🤯 Partly because that's how the cards fell, and partly on purpose.

In the middle of busy season (all of August-October for me) I looked ahead in my calendar and noticed December had no potential session dates. And for the first time ever, I blocked off the whole month right then and there. No sessions no elopements no business travel.

I was already so glad I made that choice just one week into this month. I didn't fully realize it in the moment when I made that decision, but being in it now I'm so so so grateful for the downtime and rest.

I for sure have other projects going on right now. And ohmygosh it still keeps me busy (website and rebrand being my biggest time consuming project)! But I'm so glad I made that boundary for myself, giving my mind the space it needs to work on behind the scenes tasks, recenter and realign with the heart of what I do, spend time with family, and let the creativity build up again for next year!

But yeah all that to say, while it can be scary to have "no work" as a small business owner, sometimes it can be the very thing you need most 🥹❤️
