Solo vs. teamwork—what’s your style? 🤔

👤 = I work better alone
👥 = I love a good team
🙃 = I work in a team, but I’d rather work solo

Here’s the truth: Even if you prefer working alone, teamwork is inevitable. Whether you’re at a 9-5 or running your own business, knowing how to work with others is a skill that will take you far.

Here are 5 things I’ve learned about teamwork (the hard way 😅):

1️⃣ Attitude > Skill – The most talented person can be the hardest to work with.
2️⃣ Communication is everything – Miscommunication = stress & wasted time.
3️⃣ Not everyone works like you – Learn different work styles!
4️⃣ Set boundaries & be professional – Saying yes to everything leads to burnout.
5️⃣ Have backup plans – Someone will drop the ball at some point. Be ready.

I am thrilled to announce the virtual release of my chapter in the Break the Chains anthology, coming February 25th! This picture holds a special place in my heart—it was taken when I was pregnant with my son, sitting with the Nikon camera my mom gifted me in high school nearby. I shot my first 5 weddings on that camera.
My love for photography started when I was very young, and it has grown into a lifelong passion and entrepreneurial journey.
Back then, I was 24 with big dreams, taking pictures of anything and everything. Now, at 36, I’m honored to share my story with the world in hopes of inspiring someone to never give up on their dreams.
In addition to the virtual release, I’ll be hosting a live book reading and signing near my birthday in March at a local café. This is extra special because my birthday also marks the 11th anniversary of my company, making it the perfect time to celebrate this exciting new milestone! Flashback to 2018: writing front-page news articles for a prominent DC newspaper—and even taking the photos to go along with them. God truly has a sense of humor! I joined the paper in January with no formal training, and by September, I was writing front-page news—my first writing assignment since graduating college in 2010. I had not written anything in 8 years!!

Fast forward to now: in two months, I’ll officially be a published author in an anthology sharing my entrepreneurial journey. It’s been a whirlwind, but I always circle back to my roots—watching my parents run their own business laid the foundation for my media company and upcoming event nonprofit. I can’t wait for you all to read it! Stay tuned because it’s really good. I’m so excited!!

What a difference a year makes! These photos & video were taken last year in the studio by my amazing interns. Some have stayed with the company, while others have ventured off to pursue their own dreams—and that was always the goal. I’m so grateful for the journey and incredibly excited about the new team members and all the good things 2025 has in store.
