Tonight at 5pm is the reception to open an exhibit by the Professional Photographers of East Tennessee at The Emporium on S. Gay Street.

Yours truly has two entries hanging.

I invite you all to come BUT only if you stand in front of my works making absolutely pretentious statements befitting a patron of the arts. To wit:

"Clearly, she is making a statement regarding the neo-Hegelist dystopia found in popular semantics."

"I find the use of intersectionality in the compostion redundant but yet, it evokes a sense of melancholy, really an homage to the Belle epoque era of ceramics."

“The piece interrogates the liminal architecture of memory while simultaneously refusing the bourgeois tyranny of narrative coherence. There’s an almost post-material tension between the negative space and what I would call the performative absence of vermilion—which, of course, situates the viewer within a kind of prelapsarian dialogue with late-stage capitalism. Notice how the diagonal gestures toward rupture, but never actually commits to it. That hesitation is important. It’s very Duchamp, but also strangely agricultural. The texture evokes grief, obviously, although not personal grief so much as the grief of infrastructure. And I think the chair—if we can still ethically call it a chair—functions less as an object than as an accusation. One is reminded of Derrida. Or perhaps a bus station in Antwerp.”

"Nice . . . hey, is there any more of that cheap wine and cheese left . . .?"

Before there was a baby, there was Rudy.

Ashley’s service dog has been by her side since he was three months old, and now, at nine years old, he’s preparing for a very important promotion: Big Brother.

So naturally, he came along for Ashley’s maternity session at Knoxville Botanical Garden.

If your dog has been there through the chapters that came before, don’t leave them out of the milestones that come next.

Consider this your sign to bring the fur baby. 🐾💗

Meet Rudolph — though his friends call him Rudy. ❤️🐾

Rudy is the July Dog of the Month winner, when our theme was SERVICE, and he has certainly earned the title.

For nearly nine years, this handsome Australian Shepherd has been right beside his mom as her service dog. And that’s exactly where he plans to stay for as long as he possibly can.

But Rudy has another very important job coming up.

This October, a brand-new little human is making her appearance, and I have a feeling Rudy is going to take his promotion to big brother very seriously. 🥹

We celebrated this very good boy with his portrait session at the Knoxville Botanical Garden & Arboretum , where Rudy brought the blue eye, the brown eye, the smile, and enough handsome to spare.

Congratulations, Rudy. You’ve spent years taking care of your person. This portrait is a little celebration of you. ❤️

Seeing spots—and loving every one of them. 🖤🤍

Did you know Dalmatian puppies are born almost completely white? Their distinctive spots begin appearing during their first few weeks, creating a coat pattern as individual as a fingerprint.

Helle here was photographed in one of my favorite spots, the Florida Keys.
