Swamp Saturday: The moments just before the sun pops over the eastern horizon are when the swamp shakes itself awake. Birds wake up with squawks to take up favored feeding locations, alligators slip through the waters quietly, the water ripples with a slight breeze that also tickles the thick veils of Spanish moss hanging from the cypress trees and soft golden light pushes back the night's darkness to reveal amazing textures.

Mary in the Morning was created on just such a morning, and the sense of peace as I worked was amazing.

Throwback Thursday takes me to two parks dedicated to amazing vintage neon signs from Route 66. The first photo was shot at the park in Tulsa, Oklahoma, while the second came from the brand new park in St. Robert, Missouri.

Route 66 is such an iconic part of our history — and it's nice to see that some of the old signs are being preserved.
