I finally calculated my steps from last weekend, Friday, Saturday & Sunday’s Men’s Champions Photo shoot & have to say that’s quite a lot especially when most of those were me walking inside the ballroom where the contest was held, kind of like a lab rat 🤣!

Today, July 25 marks 40 YEARS AGO I started this job as a Professional Photographer working for FLEX Magazine when it was still a printed publication. My job was to follow the American Bodybuilding Team at The World Games in London & shoot of the team & my father, as their Coach. I remember my friend , Steve Davis & Matt Mendenhall were on the American Team. It was held at The Wembley Arens at the original Wembley Stadium (where was held).
The best thing for me was getting to walk across Abbey Road like but I had to entrust my fsther to take the pics & hope🤞🏼they turned out because this was the age of & you had no idea if they turned out or not until you got the film developed. I even got The Prez going across the famous
Thinking back in this I was only 22 years old then! Who knew I’d still be doing this & much more related to it still! I’m pretty sure I’m in a small percentage of people doing the sane job for this long.
Thanks to then Editor-In-Chief Rick Wayne who took a chance on me & Joe Weider fir eventually offering me a conteact to work for FLEX. I worked for FLEX for 33 years as both a photographer & writer!
During that time the NPC News Magazine was started in 1986 & within 2 years I was working for both publications full time.
I write this as Im in Las Vegas covering the 2025 Championships, which feels quite prophetic!
I’ve traveled worldwide for this from North & South America to Europe, Japan & Australia! Im looking forward to more international trips as well as continuing to cover & contests her in America as well!
I’m lucky now that I get to travel with helping me & still having fun doing this !
Cheers to the 1000’s of people I’ve met & to the many more I’ll continue to meet!
And to all the back in ‘85 who were convinced I’d fail, where are you all now? There’s not 1 of you still around‼️
