Sitting still is not for the young. They like to run, to climb, to throw, to hang on you like you are the only thing they’ve ever loved.
So I like find places where we can all play. I like to let kids be a little wild - to *not* sit still for every picture. I like to let you just be for a minute - to have a chance to truly just sit and watch your kids be who they are: The wonderful little humans who you get the privilege of stewarding over in this world - in all the chaos and all the beauty.
I see this family about twice a year - starting when there was one little boy and now there are four. The photos used to be a lot more still. But the motion, the blurs, the wet clothes, the pebbles flying through the air… this is what makes this fun. This is what makes the kids say, “yes mama, let’s go take more pictures!”
I love when the session ends with big hugs. I love having to pry kids off of my leg because they had a good time. That’s how I know it’s been a good one.
Well, that *and* a beautiful, watercolor sunset like this one with a family whose love is just as radiant.
