This week I said no to something I had wanted for months and yes to something I would normally avoid.

Both decisions were right.

Not because they were consistent.

Because they were mine.

Today’s post is a little different.

Jan 2022:
“Let’s get together.”
“I can’t. I have a Photoshoot client at 8 a.m.”
“But Kapu, we haven’t seen you in forever.”
Apparently that was not an acceptable answer.
So one friend from high school and one from pre-K, yes, PRE-K, showed up at 6:30 in the morning armed with caffeine, carbohydrates, and absolutely no respect for my excuse. 😂। thank my lucky stars for that .

We ate, laughed, caught up, and by 8 a.m. I was back to being a responsible working adult.
This morning I sent them this photo as a memory.
Feeling the need to see each and a flurry of 30 texts later, we discovered we couldn’t find another date that worked until November.
Also unacceptable.

So we’re meeting tonight.

There are people who will give you 17 reasons why getting together is difficult.
And then there are the people who show up at 6:30 a.m. with coffee and carbs.

Find the second kind. Keep them close. And importantly, keep your calendar flexible.
That’s what life is about !

The alleged pessimist in our marriage would like the record to show that she was right.

For days I have been telling my husband the crickets sound like fall. He laughed. “It’s August.”

Then my favorite yellow oak started turning yellow.

But here’s the thing. Can we notice fall coming without abandoning the summer we am still in?

How often do we leave the present because we are already worrying about what comes next?
