4,000 shelter pets photographed and counting! 📸✨

Since 2018, I’ve had the absolute privilege of capturing the faces of ’s rescue animals to help them find their forever families. Yesterday, this adorable little tabby officially became pet #4,000!

I'm excited to be returning this Sunday for my 5th year photographing pet portraits at the Kentucky Humane Society's Waggin' Tail event!

SUNDAY, JUNE 7TH

Waterfront Park’s Festival Plaza

This year's pet portraits are once again donation-based, with all donations supporting Kentucky Humane Society animals. As a new option this year, attendees who pre-purchase Waggin' Trail tickets can reserve a pet portrait time slot in advance!

📸 3,800 Smiles and Counting!

I am so incredibly excited to share a huge milestone. This week, I officially hit 3,800 shelter pets photographed as a volunteer for the Kentucky Humane Society! 🐾

This journey started 8 years ago with a simple goal: to use my lens to help animals in need show off their true personalities.

Below is a look at some of the amazing pets I met during my most recent session. It’s hard not to fall in love with every single one of them!

Why Portraits Matter
In the world of animal rescue, a great photo is often the "magic spark" that connects a pet with their future family. It turns a kennel number into a story and helps a potential adopter see their new best friend.

How You Can Help
The Kentucky Humane Society does vital work for our community, and they can’t do it alone. If you’ve been looking for a way to give back, please consider:

Let’s be honest: for most people, "headshot day" ranks somewhere between a dental appointment and a long line at the DMV on the excitement scale. 😅

At Jennifer Schoenegge Photography, my mission is to flip that script. I believe the best portraits happen when you feel truly at ease, and I work hard to make the experience behind the lens as comfortable (and dare I say, fun?) as possible.

Of course, it certainly helps when your "co-workers" are this cute! 🐾

It was such a joy to capture the Kentucky Humane Society Board members recently. Between the wagging tails, curious kittens, the stress melted away instantly. It’s hard to stay nervous when you have a four-legged friend reminding you to just be yourself.
