Photo Session Prep: What to Wear + What to Know
📸👔💅💄✨
Dark tones > distractions.
Dark colors like black, navy, or charcoal tend to slim and pull focus to your face. Keep it classic, skip the brights.
Keep it simple.
Avoid busy patterns or prints—they distract and look less polished in portraits. Solid, structured clothing photographs best.
Makeup? Totally fine.
Go natural and clean. Even lighting can be unforgiving, but overdoing makeup can be just as distracting. Touch-ups are possible in post, but a clean canvas is easier.
Hair matters.
We can’t fix bad hair days. Bring a brush or comb and keep styles neat and true to how you show up professionally.
Less is more (accessories edition).
Skip statement jewelry. Subtle, minimal pieces help keep the focus where it should be—on you.
Glasses on or off?
How do you usually show up at work? That’s your answer. Want both options? Bring them. Pro tip: take them off 15 minutes before your session to let any marks fade.
Wrinkles are real.
We’ll do our best with retouching, but wrinkled shirts, lint, or pet hair are better handled before the shoot. Iron your look and give it a once-over.
Edits can help, but prep is key.
We can clean up minor things like blemishes, flyaways, or shirt wrinkles—but it’s always best to arrive ready.
