A tiny island in the middle of nowhere, a 40m tall lighthouse, and a long perfect right-hander that can peel for over 400m into the Indian Ocean.
Hidden down in the southern Mentawais, far from the crowds and the usual surf circuit. Built to guide boats through these remote waters, the lighthouse now doubles as a landmark for one of the most fun waves and an epic zone for fishing. Outside corner is a classic representation of Uluwatu’s magic. Big, long and open walls make for the perfect canvas to draw lines that allow your surfing to speak in the form of motion. Holy s**t. Finalist 🤯
The dream was already secured with that trip, and that session.
But for this image to make finals in Surf, top 20, out of thousands submitted to The Illume Awards?! Such an esteemed honor and privilege amongst the other world-class artists.
Thank you The Illume and sponsors for the opportunity. And thank you • Kirvan Baldassari • for literally everything to make this image happen.
The image will be featured in the Illume Photobook 2026 and possibly in the Illume Exhibit Tour. So whatever happens from here, I’m beyond stoked to just be a part of it.
