With social media feeds overflowing with AI-generated holiday photos right now I want to share something real, something I spent hours photographing and editing with skills that I have been perfecting for over 15 years.
I am not anti-technology but I am hyper aware of how AI systems are mining their source material to generate these "photos" for you -- they are being stolen from all over the internet from real artists, photographers, designers, etc with no trace of consent for use or credits given. It is unethical. And I cannot go without mentioning the exponentially growing environmental impact AI data centers have, already putting strain on fresh water supplies in many areas. But hey, the results are cute right?
Supporting real artists keeps creativity honest and driven from lived moments and feelings. If you value soul, intention, and connection -- support the people who can actually understand those things on a human level.
Humans > Algorithms, period.
