I find the whole Pictorialists movement very interesting. Not so much the New Pictorialists movement. A photographer (among other things) by the name of Gavin Seim is pretty clear in saying that modern photography lacks emotion. I don't agree with him totally, but I do agree to some degree. Of course, I'm not talking about the photographers that use it as an art form like the early Pictorialists or of creative portrait photographers today. Most of what we see today is a representation of the physical component of a person. The difficult part is the non-physical part, the inner person. It's something to strive for, because that's what makes photography so interesting.
