Sometimes the biggest impact starts with something as simple as a pancake breakfast.
In Episode 3 of our Florida or Bust 2026 series, we had the opportunity to spend the day serving the Milton, Florida community and continuing the mission of the Lee and Betty Johnson Memorial Charity.
The morning started at Unhitched Campgrounds, where we hosted a pancake breakfast and presented a special memorial garden piece that was generously fabricated and donated by J&A Welding and Fabricating of Suamico, Wisconsin. Seeing that memorial find its new home was a reminder that honoring those who came before us doesn't always require grand gestures—sometimes it's the simple acts that mean the most.
After breakfast, we headed to Historic Milton Cemetery to help clean up the fence line and remove years of overgrowth. Our goal was to help preserve and improve a place that holds so much history and so many memories.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans for me.
Partway through the project, I had an allergic reaction to some of the plants we were clearing and had to step back from the work. Thankfully, Ryan and Gary from Jail Bait & Tackle Outdoors stepped up and kept the project moving forward when I couldn't.
One thing this trip taught me is that service isn't about who gets the credit. It's about showing up, working together, and helping wherever you're needed.
Whether it was serving breakfast, presenting a memorial, or clearing brush at the cemetery, every part of this day was driven by the same mission:
How can we serve those who served us?
Thank you to everyone who continues to support the Lee and Betty Johnson Memorial Charity and our efforts to support veterans and Wreaths Across America.
