✨️ 5 Wedding Day Timeline Tips for Stress-Free Photos ✨

As a wedding photographer, I've seen firsthand how a well-planned timeline ( and communication about your expectations) can make a huge difference in your wedding day experience and final gallery! Here are my top 5 tips to keep in mind when creating yours!

1. Build in Buffer Time. Things almost always take a little longer than expected. When you see that your photographer or planner has added 10–15 extra minutes between major events, it's to help keep the day relaxed and on schedule.

2. Prioritize the Photos That Matter Most!! Make a list of the photos that are most important to you and allow enough time for them. Whether it's sunset portraits, family photos with grandparents, or a private first look, your timeline should reflect your priorities and your photographer should be made aware that these are of utmost importance.

3. Consider a First Look. A first look can free up time before the ceremony, allowing you to enjoy more of cocktail hour and spend less time away from your guests later. PLUS you'll actually get to spend most of your day with your spouse vs avoiding them!

4. Schedule Family Photos in Advance. Create a family photo list before the wedding day and designate a family member who knows everyone to help gather people quickly. This can save a surprising amount of time.

5. Leave Time for Golden Hour Portraits. If possible, reserve 15–20 minutes around sunset for couple portraits. The soft, flattering light often creates some of the most beautiful images of the entire day. Sometimes this looks like sneaking away during the reception when everyone is having a good time and allowing yourselves a fun break together after all the hustle and bustle.

📸 The best wedding timelines may look packed full, but they are absolutely essential to creating the smoothest day possible.
