My process on a wedding day is pretty simple: observe first, direct when needed, and always stay ready.

I start by paying attention to what’s happening around me. The little interactions, the anticipation, the details, and the moments that happen naturally.

When a moment needs a little direction, I’ll step in and create it. But I don’t want to manufacture every moment just for the sake of getting a shot.

I’d rather give people space to forget about the camera and let things unfold.

And when the dance floor opens up, I switch gears and look for ways to bring out the energy and personality of the people in front of me.

For me, filmmaking is about finding that balance between creating a beautiful image and capturing something real.

Because I don’t want to just show you what the wedding looked like.

I want you to feel like you were there.

Filmmaker. Storyteller. Husband. Dad.

I’m someone who is constantly watching, listening, and thinking how a moment could become a story.

I’ve spent the last 5 years filming weddings, but the more I do this, the more I realize it was never really about weddings.

It’s about people.

Their stories, their voices and their relationships are the moments that make them who they are.

The camera just happens to be how I get to tell those stories.

Filming Bryson and Raina’s elopement in the Blue Ridge Mountains was such a meaningful experience, especially because I also had the chance to tell more of their story during a session along the coast where they both grew up.

Their immediate family was there to celebrate with them, but many of their guests still have no idea they are already married. Last month, they finally shared their film at their “wedding day” and reveal this part of their story with everyone who was not there.

Being trusted to create something that is not only a memory of their day but also part of such a meaningful surprise is something I will never take lightly.

Some films help us remember a day. Others become part of the story itself. This one gets to do both.
