I saw this cicada a couple of weeks ago in the parking lot at work, late at night. I grabbed my camera and the battery was dead, which was a bummer because when I first spotted it, it had emerged only halfway out of it's shell so it was still being born. I never expect much from my phone camera and rarely use it, but it got the job done to my great satisfaction. The cicada has to let it wings dry out and strengthen for while after emerging, so before it flies away, it relaxes for a while. View at maximum screen for maximum effect.
