American Ascendants American Ascendants honors Black Americans whose roots in this land stretch back centuries. Rooted here. Rising!

We celebrate lineage, resilience, culture, and contribution—affirming permanence, dignity, and our rightful place in the American story. Strength, tradition, beauty, character and hope… are just a few of the qualities you will see in the faces of the photos in Black Archive. Black Archive is a digital collection of vintage photographs that capture various periods of the African Americana experienc

e. Our mission is to assist with the preservation of endearing images photographed of the previous generations. Some of the images will be of historical figures, entertainers, leaders and most will be of regular people who's photographed images are still telling their stories!

When Queen Latifah traced her lineage back to 1766, she wasn’t just uncovering names on a chart, she was uncovering roots.

For many Black Americans, our story in this land stretches back centuries. Before trends. Before hashtags. Before narratives tried to define us.

We are not recent.
We are not temporary.
We are foundational.

American Ascendants are those whose blood, labor, culture, faith, and resilience helped shape this nation generation after generation.

Your ancestry is not just history.
It is evidence of permanence.
