Well, hello there! đź‘€An Eastern Box Turtle slowly emerged from the grass for a quick photo session. These incredible turtles can live for decades and often spend their entire lives within a surprisingly small home range, making every safe patch of habitat incredibly important. If you ever find one crossing a road, help it across in the direction it was already traveling.

What do these animals have in common?
The American crocodile, bald eagle, wood stork, and American alligator were all once listed as endangered species in the United States. Thanks to conservation efforts, habitat protection, and the Endangered Species Act, their populations were given a second chance.
Today is Endangered Species Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the plants and animals at risk of extinction and recognizing the importance of protecting biodiversity.
Passed in 1973, the Endangered Species Act helps protect threatened and endangered wildlife and the habitats they depend on. Over the years, it has played a major role in the recovery of iconic species like the bald eagle and American alligator, proving that conservation efforts can make a real difference.
These species remind us that recovery is possible when people choose to protect wildlife and the environments they call home.

Completely harmless to people, banded watersnakes are often mistaken for venomous species, but they’re just doing their job. Every role matters out here!!

Happy Easter! This Easter bunny can swim. Marsh rabbits thrive in wetlands, munching on grasses and hiding in thick marshes. Their big hind feet make them excellent paddlers, letting them slip through water like little marsh ninjas!

Crocodilians are incredibly resilient, this American crocodile likely lost part of its lower jaw from territorial fighting, yet it’s still cruising the waters of the Everglades, a testament to just how tough these reptiles are.

Wood storks, great egrets, and anhingas all commonly raise their young in dense breeding colonies.
Many wading birds often nest over water inhabited by alligators. The presence of alligators reduces access for terrestrial predators, increasing nest success.
Which baby bird do you find to be the most cute?
