Hi friends 👋🏼 it’s been a hot minute. Get ready for a very long, but overdue post.
I’m gonna be honest, 2021 was challenging — mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
I fell out of photography for awhile, which was disappointing, since I really love this craft. However, I knew getting into a healthy mental space was not only important, but necessary.
So, I dove deep, did some soul searching, put in time to do inner work, and I’ve embarked on a journey to self love, self care, and a commitment to prioritizing myself.
I’m not sure when I’ll jump back into photography. However, I’m hoping there will be opportunities that find me this upcoming year where I can continue to grow and expand myself.
All of this to say, here’s what I’ve learned:
Fostering a healthy relationship with yourself is SO important. Chasing after outward validation isn’t gonna help you love yourself more. It’s time to stop living in fear of what other people think. Do what makes you happy and find fulfillment in your passions.
Be gentle with yourself. Your best doesn’t always look like your 100% all of the time. It’s okay to have bad days, months, or even years. Celebrate the good ones. Rest as long as you need.
You don’t have to give and give and give to feel worthy. When things are moving so fast around you, choose to be intentional with your time and energy (and who you give your time and energy to). It’s okay to be selfish sometimes. Listen to your body and trust your gut. Energy never lies.
Take social media breaks. Cleanse the comparison. Unfollow or block whoever you want and be unapologetic about it.
Move on from things that aren’t healthy for you. Growth is scary…hard…painful, but is so worth it. Breathe. Try again. Feel your feelings. Stand up for yourself. Live your life for you. You’re entitled to having your own experience, don’t let anyone invalidate it.
Be aware of your negative self talk. Be understanding and compassionate. Be patient. Be your own biggest fan. And if you can’t be anything else, be kind — not only to others, but to yourself. We are all connected.
Sending everyone so much love, light, and good vibes ✨ and wishing you a very happy new year 🥳
